SVRG’s Hard Drivers hosted an exhibition bout against Black Thunder from Santa Cruz at Hot San Jose Nights on July 14th. SVRG pocketed a third win this season against our sisters from over the hill, with a final score of 233-71. Unleasha Moore amazed the crowds with a 26-point jam in the first period. Skirt Vonna-Gut entertained fans by jumping over 3 girls during halftime. Here’s a photoblog of the action.

Vegas Vixen and Belle Wringer zombified
Vegas, Belle, Satan’s Kitten, and Retox Fox played hooky from practice on Wednesday night to go promote our upcoming bout at Zombie-o-rama in downtown San Jose. In between flesh feasts we got to chat up a lot of local zombies who can now list roller derby alongside brains as things they love!
On Friday, Fox, Catherine Beata Bones, and Bitch Puddin’ spent a lovely morning and afternoon getting patrons of the downtown San Jose Farmers’ Market excited about our upcoming bout on September 11…not to mention sparking the interest of a few potential recruits. Hit us up!
The San Jose Downtown Association has been a great partner and supporter of the Silicon Valley Roller Girls, and we’d like to say another thank you to Amy Anderson and the great crew for helping us reach new fans this summer!

SVRG will be setting up a track and doing a roller derby demo at Left Coast Live on Friday night, June 25. On Friday and Saturday in downtown San Jose, streets between San Carlos and Reed (near 1st) will be closed down for the festival.

SF Weekly calls the festival a “mini South by Southwest” because awesome bands like Yo La Tengo (yo la sigh!), OK Go, Neon Trees, and the Crash Kings will be playing throughout the weekend. In total, over 100 bands will be playing on 35 stages–check out the LCL music player to hear more.
