Donate and help SVRG Walk Now for Autism!

Walk NowWe have a team of dedicated Silicon Valley Roller Girls who will be participating in the Autism Speaks’ Walk Now for Autism this Saturday, May 30. Right now we are at $2,289, and we are hoping to reach $2,500. Every little bit helps, so please click here to contribute to our efforts and donate to the cause.

Walk Now for Autism is a family-friendly event, so bring the whole family along! There are activities for children, resources for families, light refreshments and entertainment.

Location: History Park at Kelley Park, San Jose, CA

Event Schedule:

  • 9:00 am: Registration, children’s activities and the Autism Community Resource Fair open. To alleviate traffic congestion, we suggest you plan accordingly and arrive on the early side.
  • 10:30 am: Opening ceremonies and Walk Start. The actual Walk is 4 laps with each lap representing a reason we walk (research, advocacy, family services, and awareness), totaling approximately 2 miles.
  • 12:30 pm: Resource Fair closes.

Parking: There is ample parking at the City of San Jose Parking Lots that surround History Park. There is a parking fee of $6 per car, so we encourage everyone to carpool. There will be Walk volunteers to direct you to the various parking lots.

Resource Fair: Visit the Resource Fair to speak with service providers and nonprofit organizations servicing the autism community. Don’t miss the Autism Speaks and Autism Votes informational booth, where you can sign important legislative petitions and get relevant materials about Autism Speaks!

Refreshments: There will be light refreshments available, however please plan ahead and bring a more substantial picnic lunch if your family will be staying at the park.

Entertainment: Enjoy bounce houses, face painting, children’s activities provided by our 24 Resource Fair vendors, music, Ryan Cochrane from the San Jose Earthquakes, Gigante from the San Jose Giants and Geoffrey the Giraffe from Toys “R” Us!
