Lizapalooza and other SVRG skaters will be participating in the Relay for Life to help raise money for cancer research. You can donate to Lizapalooza’s efforts here.

This is what Lizapalooza said about her motivation to walk:

I walk for Mr. John Fernandez, who was the most influential teacher in my life. He taught Spanish at Presentation High School for over 20 years, where he not only shared his love of language, but also his passion for life. He left the school when he was too ill to continue teaching and focused on battling his lymphoma cancer. He moved home to Spain to be closer to his family. There he went into remission for a few years. The cancer has returned and he continues to fight. I walk unite in fighting the illness that torments him and so many others.
