Welcome!

Greetings and salutations, derby fans! Welcome to our official Silicon Valley Roller Girls blog. I’m Retox Fox, and I’ll be your occasionally cordial host.

We hope this blog can serve as a resource for skaters and fans alike. Here, we’ll be posting notices about SVRG events, including fundraisers, volunteer opportunities, and bouts. We’ll also be offering recaps of these events including photos and video in case you missed the action. Some posts will cover roller derby basics so that you can familiarize yourself with the way the game is played. We’ll also feature interviews with our players and coaches on a variety of topics, so if there’s something you want to know more about, don’t hesitate to ask!

I myself am relatively new to the sport, having joined the team in September 2008. Thus, many of my posts will be framed from a newcomer’s perspective, spiced up with information from my seasoned teammates. We’ll also feature a variety of guest posts to offer you several perspectives on the sport, from players, refs, coaches, and maybe the occasional fan or derby widow. So, if you are curious about the sport and want to learn more, this is a good place to start. Or, if you’re already schooled and just looking for the latest info on SVRG, this is an opportunity to join our fan community, interact with other fans, keep up with our events, and support your team.

Thanks for reading!
