Silicon Valley Roller Girls Join eScrip Fundraising Program

SVRG is now a charity partner of eScrip, a super safe and easy way to continually financially support the league without ever donating any of your own cash! I’ve been personally using this for years and I’ve never had any problems. Please register with them and also send your friends and family an email to let them know how they can support us financially with only a few clicks of a mouse.

What Is the eScrip Program? How Does It Work?

eScrip has created a system that rewards customer loyalty by contributing a percentage of purchases made by participating friends and fans to nonprofits. Friends, fans, and families are encouraged to register their grocery club cards and existing credit/debit cards.  A percentage of all purchases made at eScrip merchants will be given back to SVRG as the designated group.

Texas Hold’Em Poker Tournament

It’s time to sharpen your betting skills and get your game face ready because the Silicon Valley Roller Girls are having our first-ever Poker Tournament! This exciting, high-stakes fundraiser will help to sponsor our players with new uniforms for the 2011 season.

Proudly hosted by CSR Real Estate, this event will be held on Friday, February 25th at 6:30pm at the CSR office located at 5671 Santa Teresa Boulevard, Suite 100, in San Jose.

Your $100 buy-in includes $1500 worth of playing chips as well as delicious pizza and beer to satisfy your appetite, served to you by your favorite roller derby girls! Re-buys/add-ons will be available for $40, with a limit of one per person. Prizes too great to name will be offered to the top 10 players!

Calling all artists! Donate to SVRG’s art fundraiser

Calling all artists! The Silicon Valley Roller Girls are seeking horror and/or roller derby themed art submissions as donations for an art auction & wine tasting fundraiser. All donations will help support SVRG’s expenses for next season, including rink rental and travel costs. The creator of the donated piece who raises the most money will win an SVRG prize package.

Please RSVP your spot in the art auction via email to community@svrollergirls.com. Include your name, phone number, type of art medium to be used, and general idea for the piece. If you have a photograph at this time, please feel free to send that as well.

The necessary evils: Submissions are limited due to venue space and restrictions, so please RSVP your participation as soon as possible to save a spot for your piece. While we encourage creative freedom, we do retain the right to refuse participation to any artist/piece for any reason. Final artwork must be submitted by Saturday, October 16^th. Questions? SVRG’s Annual Jello Wrestling Tournament this Saturday, July 31

This Saturday, July 31, starting at 7 pm, will be the Silicon Valley Roller Girls’ annual Jello wrestling tournament at Jack’s Bar & Lounge, 167 E. Taylor St., San Jose. Admission is $8 ($25 for VIP) with $2 Jello shots (of course) and PBR specials. You can buy tickets at Jack’s or on Brown Paper Tickets.

Come support SVRG junior derby this Thursday, June 10!

Derby 2.o is here! For those of you who have not heard, SVRG is launching a junior derby camp this summer for girls 7 to 17. We need to do some fundraising to help cover camp costs, so we are hosting a fundraiser this Thursday, June 10, at San Jose Skate (397 Blossom Hill Road) from 6 to 9 pm. Cost of entry is $10 and you will get to come skate with SVRG and know you’re supporting local girls’ athletics.

If you’ve got a potential derby girl, this is a great opportunity to come out and meet the skaters who will be helping coach and ask any questions you may have. The staff at San Jose Skate will also be there if you have questions about skates or safety gear for your child.

Do you want to wish someone a happy birthday, commemorate an anniversary, or let a roller girl know you’re wishing her luck on the rink at our May 1 bout? Or maybe you just want to promote your business or website? Show your love and support SVRG! For a mere $25, you can secure on screen advertising during our bout. Our production partners from CreaTV will create a special screen that will flash throughout the evening with your message.

You don’t even have to be in attendance–maybe you have to be out of town and are going to miss your BFF rockin’ the rink. All you need to do is send your message to pr@svrollergirls.com, and once it is approved, we will send you a link to make the online payment. Then, done!

SVRG Band Night @ Fat Cats in Sunnyvale *this Friday!*

The Silicon Valley Roller Girls are hosting an all ages show at Fat Cats in Sunnyvale this Friday, April 16. Doors are at 7, there is a $7 cover, and you get to see local punk bands The Obsessors, Stand Fight Resist, Lucabrazzi, Boar Hunter, and Vacant Churches.  All door proceeds go to the league, so come enjoy some live music, have a drink, and hang out with your favorite roller girls!
